Wildebeests Crossing the Mara River, Serengeti Highlights, and The Ngorongoro Crater

Day 1    Overnight at African View Lodge

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport - greeted by Africa Nature Photography team and driven to African View Lodge for late dinner and overnight. 

Day 2:    Overnight at African View Lodge

Day of leisure due to recent flight changes dictated by KLM. If possible, we can do the Orientation that appears in DAY 3 and also have an additional game drive in Arusha NP. A separate fee will need to be pd to make this happen. The option is to have a day of leisure at the lodge.

Day 3: Overnight African View Lodge Orientation / Flash + Mag Mod Instruction  

AM: Orientation: Discuss procedures at each camp (internet, etc), proper jeep protocol, tipping protocol, securing valuables and cash, laundry options, get to know each other and answer all questions each participant may have. Photo Instruction: Russ will work with everyone to go over camera settings to best capture action, discuss flash techniques, and how to use the Mag Mod.

PM: Game drive at Arusha National Park and practice using the flash techniques taught during the morning session to prepare us for our photography during the safari.

Day 4:     Overnight at Lion’s Paw Deluxe Camp

AM:  Leave Arusha and drive to Lion’s Paw for early lunch. (It’s a three hour drive)  We’ll stop along the way for any good photo ops.

PM:  Afternoon and early evening game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. Our focus will be the Big Five in action.  (Black Rhino) 

Day 5:      Overnight at Lake Masek Tented Camp

AM: Game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater and make the drive to the Lake Masek area in the Ngorongoro Conservation area. 

PM: Arrive at Lake Masek for lunch and have a game drive in the afternoon. Driving off road is allowed in this area so we broaden our chances to capture amazing images.

Day 6:     Overnight at Lake Masek Tented Camp

AM: Game drive in the Lake Masek and Lake Ndutu areas. We will visit the forest, transition zone, and open grasslands to look for all species to photograph. 

PM: Game drive in the Lake Masek and Lake Ndutu areas. We will visit the forest, transition zone, and open grasslands to look for all species to photograph.

Day 7:      Overnight at Sametu Luxury Tented camp

AM: Game drive in the Lake Masek area to capture images of many species as we proceed toward Sametu Luxury Tented Camp in the Seronera Valley. 

PM: Game drive in the Seronera Valley. Options include Sametu Kopjes, Maasai Kopjes, Moru, Gol, and Zebra Kopjes, to find the array of species that inhabit the area.

Day 8:     Overnight at Sametu Luxury Tented camp

AM + PM: Game drive in the Seronera Valley. Options include Sametu Kopjes, Maasai Kopjes, Moru, Gol, and Zebra Kopjes, to find the array of species that inhabit the area.

Day 9:     Overnight at Sametu Luxury Tented camp

AM + PM: Game drive in the Seronera Valley. Options include Sametu Kopjes, Maasai Kopjes, Moru, Gol, and Zebra Kopjes, to find the array of species that inhabit the area.

Day 10:     Overnight at Serengeti Mara River Tented Camp

AM: Work the Central Serengeti to look for a plethora of species. Options include the many species that inhabit the area. Drive to Northern Serengeti - check in at new camp.

PM: Make images of the wildebeests crossing the Mara River.

Day 11     Overnight at Serengeti Mara River Tented Camp

AM + PM: Early morning and afternoon game drives in the Mara River areas. The focus will be the river crossings of wildebeests, in addition to big cats, wildlife around the kopjes, birds and all other animals that inhabit the area in early morning and late afternoon light.

Day 12    Overnight at Serengeti River Tented Camp

AM + PM: Early morning and afternoon game drives in the Mara River areas. The focus will be the river crossings of wildebeests, in addition to big cats, wildlife around the kopjes, birds and all other animals that inhabit the area in early morning and late afternoon light.

Day 13    Overnight at Serengeti River Tented Camp

AM + PM: Early morning and afternoon game drives in the Mara River areas. The focus will be the river crossings of wildebeests, in addition to big cats, wildlife around the kopjes, birds and all other animals that inhabit the area in early morning and late afternoon light.

Day 14    Overnight at Serengeti River Tented Camp

AM + PM: Early morning and afternoon game drives in the Mara River areas. The focus will be the river crossings of wildebeests, in addition to big cats, wildlife around the kopjes, birds and all other animals that inhabit the area in early morning and late afternoon light.

Day 15

AM: Early breakfast at the camp and have an abbreviated game drive in the morning enroute to the Kogatende Airstrip to fly to Arusha. We will stop at the Cultural Heritage Center for lunch and shopping. Drive to African View Lodge for a day room to shower and pack. Early light dinner at African View Lodge before driving to Kilimanjaro Airport for departure flights.
